COMBAT WOUNDED VETERANS CHALLENGE

SAIL training & championship April 18-April 25th

The mission of the Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge (CWVC) is to improve the lives of wounded or injured veterans by assisting them in realizing their newfound potential for the benefit of all.

This sports challenge brings a group of veterans and their families from not only the U.S., but two other countries. All of these veterans are from the multi-national coalition who bravely served in both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

At this time, all veteran participant spots are full, but both spectators and media outlets are invited to come, watch, and support the veterans participating on Saturday, September 21st. Race start time to be announced. Spectators are welcome to watch the event from SSBG’s private docks and viewing deck.

DOOLIN CUP

Adaptive Regatta - Schedule TBA

The Doolin Cup is an adaptive regatta in which at least the helmsman must have some type of disability making them eligible, under the International Federation of Disabled Sailors (IFDS) Functional Classification System, to compete in an IFDS sanctioned event. The Doolin Cup is a qualifier for the US Sailing Para National Championships (Disabled Championships). The 2020 Para Championship will be the Doolin Cup.

The Doolin cup is raced in sonars, the same boat used in the Paralympics from 2000-2016. The boats are raced by a team of three sailors. The regatta will be governed by The US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing. On-site housing at SSBG is available (reservations available soon!).
The volunteer sign-up will be sent out in early August.
